6 Must-Try Cocktail Recipes For The Holiday Season

This holiday season is definitely different than what we are used to, but we know the best way to get you feeling festive – boozy holiday drink recipes! We have searched high and low and have narrowed down the extensive list of delicious recipes to our 6 favourite holiday drinks that are sure to sleigh this holiday season. These recipes are seriously making us wish we could dispense these holiday favourites from our beer dispensers!

 

Eric and Josh’s Rosemary Maple Bourbon Sour

First up, we have a Rosemary Maple Bourbon Sour. This delicious twist on a classic comes from the artisanal cocktail book Shake: A New Perspective on Cocktailsby Eric Prum and Josh Williams.

Ingredients – 2 servings

  • 3 shots bourbon
  • 1 1/2 shots fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 shot dark amber maple syrup
  • 1 large sprig of rosemary (plus 2 small sprigs for garnish)

Directions

  1. Crush the large sprig of rosemary in your hand and add to the shaker.
  2. Add the bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, and ice to above the level of the liquid and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
  3. Strain mixture into rocks glasses with ice and garnish with remaining rosemary sprig.

  

Candy Cane Cocktail

Not only are candy canes a staple of the holiday season, they are also absolutely delicious in a festive cocktail! This Candy Cane Cocktail from Sandra Lee is the perfect mint-chocolate combo, sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients – 1 serving

  • 1 shot vanilla rum
  • 1 shot white chocolate liqueur (recommended: Godiva)
  • 1 shot peppermint schnapps
  • Candy cane, garnish

Directions

  1. Add all liquid ingredients to cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well and strain into martini glass.
  3. Garnish with candy cane. 

 

Irish it was always holiday season!

We can’t think of a better way to warm up on a cold evening than with a warm (and boozy) holiday drink. Irish coffees are fan favourites for the comfort of the coffee and the delicious twist that is the whiskey, PLUS this recipe adds a touch of holiday spirit, what more can we ask for?

Ingredients – 1 serving

  • 1 oz Irish Whiskey
  • ½ cup Medium Roast Hot Coffee
  • 1 teaspoon Kahlua or Brown Sugar
  • Whipped Cream & Crushed Candy Canes to garnish

Directions

  1. Warm the glass by rinsing in hot water
  2. Add 1 oz Irish Whiskey
  3. Combine 1 tsp Kahlua or if using brown sugar add then stir until dissolved
  4. Pour in ½ cup of hot coffee
  5. Top with whipped cream and garnish with crushed candy canes

 

Apple Pie on the Rocks

Is it just us or is the thought of an apple pie-flavoured drink is almost too exciting to handle!? Well, hold onto your winter hats because Jackie Sobon from Vegan Yack Attack has concocted an amazing (and easy) recipe for you to try!

Ingredients – 1 serving

  • 1 ounce (30 ml) Vanilla Vodka
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) Fireball Whiskey
  • 4 oz (120 ml) Organic Apple Juice
  • Pinch of Ground Cinnamon
  • Brown Sugar for the rim, Grind a little finer for more successful sugaring
  • Optional: Cinnamon Stick for Garnish
  • Ice

Directions

  1. Wet the rim of your rocks glass just a little, and gently sugar the rim with the brown sugar.
  2. In a martini shaker, pour the vodka, Fireball, apple juice and ground cinnamon together with a handful of ice cubes. Shake 10 times and pour the contents into the glass without wiping off the sugar rim.
  3. Serve chilled and with a cinnamon stick, for garnish.

Vodka Cranberry Punch with Apple Cider Ice Cubes

This sweet and spicy drink is not only delicious, it is also beautiful to look at! The apple cider ice cubes make this festive drink unique, bringing it to a whole new level. The flavours from the cranberries and cinnamon will overwhelm you with holiday spirit – enjoy!

Ingredients – 6 to 8 servings

  • 2 cups apple cider, or more as needed
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1 1/2 cups vodka
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries

Directions

  1. Fill two ice cube trays with apple cider and put it in the freezer for 8 hours or overnight. You may need a bit more or less of the cider, depending on the ice cube tray that you use.
  2. Meanwhile, heat the sugar, cinnamon and 1/3 cup water in a saucepan over medium heat, whisking the entire time. Cook until the mixture begins to bubble, then remove it from the heat. Allow it cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
  3. Combine the cranberry juice, vodka, orange juice, cinnamon sticks and the cinnamon simple syrup in a large punch bowl or pitcher. Stir well and refrigerate for a few hours before serving-this will marry the flavors. Before serving, add the apple cider ice cubes and cranberries to the bowl or pitcher.

Sugar Cookie Martinis

Cookies + Martinis = a holly jolly evening!

If you have a sweet tooth and are in the mood to try something new, this is the recipe for you. If you’re feeling extra creative, feel free to sip on this martini while baking and decorating your own sugar cookies!

Ingredients – 2 servings

  • 1/2 c. whole milk
  • 1/4 c. Baileys
  • 2 oz. vanilla vodka
  • 2 oz. amaretto
  • Ice

FOR THE RIM

  • 1/2 c. vanilla frosting
  • 1/4 c. sprinkles, plus 1 tsp., divided
  • Sugar cookies

Directions

  1. Using an offset spatula, spread a thin layer of frosting onto rim of two martini glasses. Pour ¼ cup sprinkles onto a small plate then dip rims in sprinkles to coat. Use an offset to frost cookies with frosting then decorate with remaining 2 tablespoons sprinkles.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine milk, Baileys, vodka, and amaretto. Add ice and shake until cold. Pour into glasses and garnish rim with a cookie.
